Amanda Azia is a high school student from Potomac, Maryland. She co-founded Youth Upholding Democracy in order to increase youth political participation and activism because she strongly believes that young people should feel empowered to speak up in politics. She is passionate about a variety of issues, including human rights, combating inequalities and biases, and education. In addition to being the Events and Outreach Director for Youth Upholding Democracy, she is active in her community. Amanda is the founder and President of her school’s Paper Bridges Chapter. She also serves on the Teen Leadership Board for Friendship Circle and on the Executive Board of Birthday Cakes 4 Free.
